OTHER LAKES CONTAINING MUSKIES

Here is a list of other lakes in the State of Illinois both public and private that contain muskies. They are not a part of the official Illinois muskie stocking program. While we cannot guarantee the size or health of the populations in each lake, our research has shown that they are at least present.

The following lakes are managed by the Village of Lindenhurst. Access is only for village residents and guests:

Potomac Lake
Waterford Lake
Spring Ledge Lake

Rivers
Since muskies are not a native fish in Illinois there are limited river fishing opportunities. The river fisheries exist due to escapement.
Most land along the rivers is private and permission is required for access.
Indian Creek below Shabbona and Willow Creek below Pierce may offer a limited fishery but all access is private.

Fox River

The Fox River below the Chain offers some fishing opportunities.

Kaskaskia River

The Kaskaskia River directly below the Lake Shelbyville dam offers an outstanding muskie fishery.

Mackinaw River

A few muskies have been caught in the Mackinaw River below Evergreen Lake due to fish escaping from the lake during high water levels.

Rock River

A few fish have been reported in the Rock River. These fish probably escaped out of Shabbona and followed Willow Creek to the Rock River
